This section is divided into 2 parts:

Part 1) Where to stay in Cape Town prior to the wedding (and possibly after the wedding if you still have a few day here).

Part 2) Where to stay on the night of the wedding (21st Feb) as this will be at L'Avenir Wine Estate in Stellenbosch (about a 45 minute drive from Cape Town).

Part 1) For the duration of your stay in Cape Town, Varique and I would personally recommend 'Sea Point'. This fashionable spot has a long stretch of beach and a promenade (which is a popular dog-walking spot!) as well as some trendy bars and restaurants. It is also only 10-15 minutes away by car from the (possibly even more fashionable and trendy) Camps Bay and V & A Waterfront areas, but Sea Point is definitely a cheaper and quieter option!

Recommended Hotels in Sea Point (by 'recommended' we mean places where Varique and I have stayed, or, if not, would at least be happy to stay!):

- The Hyde All Suite Hotel (Varique and I stayed here in Dec 2025)

- The Bantry Aparthotel

- The Protea Hotel (a more affordable option, but still a reputable, well known chain in SA)

If you are looking to be in the 'thick of the action' for your stay, then Camps Bay is also a viable option, albeit it can be on the pricier side. This area is very popular with tourists, boasting a beautiful beach and many upmarket beachfront bars and restaurants (including a Cape Town Hard Rock Cafe for those avid fans of the restaurant chain!) Either way, it is certainly worth a night out or two there!

- The Crystal Apartments by TPF

Finally, if you are keen to stay in "One of Africa's most visited cultural and historical hubs" (Tripadvisor's words, not mine!) then you could set up base in V&A Waterfront, a historical working harbour with bougie shops, bars and restaurants. This will also be a pricier area to reside though, so perhaps worth a visit rather than a stay...!

- City Lodge Hotel V&A Waterfront (Varique and I stayed here in Feb 2024...simple and clean!)

- The PortsWood Hotel

Finally, for those of you land-based mammals who prefer grass and parks over sand and sea, there is also Green Point. This trendy neighbourhood contains a vibrant nightlife, scenic parks, and the iconic DHL Stadium (home of 'The Stormers' - who knew SA played rugby...) Varique and I have also tested out the McDonalds in Green Point, and it checks out, so there's that too...

Part 2: Most guests will be leaving their accommodation in Cape Town and staying for one night in Stellenbosch, close to L'Avenir Wine Estate, on Saturday 21st Feb. Some guests may even choose to stay for 2 nights (Fri 20th & Sat 21st) in Stellenbosch if they find this more convenient for attending the wedding (which will start at around midday on Sat 21st).

The closest accommodation to L'Avenir is around 3km away (you can find examples of these on Booking.com and Trip.com).

However, we would personally recommend booking a larger villa/house (e.g. with 4 or 5 rooms) on Airbnb that is within a 20-30 minute drive and staying there as a group. Not only will this be more sociable (particularly if you choose to go there on the Friday night), but it will be much easier to pre-arrange transport to take you all back to that one accommodation at the end of the wedding night.
